Social Time 9:00 to 9:30
Our business meeting was called to order at 9:35 AM with the flag salute, and a warm welcome to everyone by our President Annette Slocombe.
Our next business meeting will be May 21, 2015.
Joe, from the Civil Air Patrol was introduced, who then introduced Jake Mieding, a cadet. A donation was presented to them. Sara from New Life Pregnancy Center was introduced next and she also was presented with a donation.
Annette read a story about one of our members who deserves a random act of kindness award. Her name will remain unknown until our next meeting so it will be a surprise to her. Tune in next month to find out who it is if you were not at the last meeting.
Hospitality – Marcia Goodwin and Theresa Simmons reported that we had 50 members present with 4 guests.
Minutes from our last meeting were reviewed by everyone. A motion was made, to approve the minutes with the correction that Pat Collison name was spelled wrong.
Communications – Judy Pletting: A letter was received from Department of the Air Force, for the ROTC at Mohave High School asking for donations. Judy Pletting thanked everyone for all the cards and prayers and well wishes while she was in the hospital.
Treasure’s Report – Pati Phillips: All requests for reimbursements need to be made on a request form available from Pati. Balance on Hand 3/31/2015 was $12371.12. A motion was made by Della Bingman and second by Pat Johnson, to accept the report as given. Report will be filed for review. Renew your Fons and Porter Magazine through the guild, new or renewal $15.00.
Membership – Judy Burk reported that we have a membership of 98. Judy has received money for ads for next year’s roster. You can start renewing for next year and should be in by May so all the names go into the roster.
Refreshments: - Joyce Nilsen and Theresa Simmons: Joyce thanked everyone who brought refreshments and lunch today. Lyn Reyes will take over for Joyce as the new refreshment chairman. Next month is a potluck. Everyone bring your favorite dish. Volunteers are needed to clean up after lunch. We all need to clean up at our tables. Please take home your left overs and dishes. As usual lunch was terrific.
Charity – Marcia Goodwin, Helen Buck, and Cheri Stensland Work day for charity quilts May 7, 2015. A motion was made by Pat Johnson with a second by Susie Hatinger to donation $100 to River Valley High School Golf Club. Motion passed 44 to 3.
Historian – Donna Besst has the book up to date and in the back of the room.
Newsletter and Website Maintenance: It is up and running. Dorothea will take over the new letter in conjunction with the web site maintenance. Robin has asked to be replaced. Dorothea also asked that everyone go into the web site a bunch of times it makes the web site come up first in line the more times it is gone into. Carol Ann Fletcher will take charge of mailing out the newsletter to those who do not have computers.
Special Events –Melinda Sobraske: April 23 we will be dying material. To avoid a lot of confusion please come only if you have signed up.
Workshop Committee – Rosemary Huppert and Susan Johnson Melinda Sobraske: May 28th is an open workshopQuilt Show- Melinda Sobraske. Next meeting will be 4/20/2015. Meeting will be held at the cottage at 9:00 AM. The date of the quilt show is date is set up Feb. 11 show 12, 13, of 2016. We are well ahead of the game in getting prepared for the quilt show for next year. May meeting is the last day to turn in blocks. Pin cushions need to be brought in by May for the boutique. You can also make sets of 4 coasters or mug rugs. Tickets are available for everyone to sell. Please pick yours up as soon as possible. Everyone is required to sell $20 worth of tickets. Also there are book marks available to take to your favorite places as advertisement.
Opportunity Quilt-: Dana washed it and it was still drying. She will have it at the next meeting.
Intra Guild – Nancy Latham and Susie Hatinger: No Report.
Publicity – Dana Galle: No report
E-mail – Helen Buck- Melinda will temporarily take over for Helen sending out emails.
Phone – Eunice Dean list is getting smaller more and more people are using computers.
Old Business- Reminder, Box tops, pull tabs, food bank donations can be dropped off at workshops as well as business meetings.
New Business – Bring in musical theme fabric so a quilt can be made this summer and used for a raffle for fall concerts in October for Colorado River Concerts. If you have fabric see Marcia.
Nominating Committee presented a slate of officers as follows:
President: Rhonda Naugle Secretary: Judy Pletting
V. President: Sue Hatinger Treasurer: Gay Dzinski
A motion was made by Della Bingman and seconded by Sally Brinegar to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for all offices. Slate was approved by all.
Program: Sue Whiting gave a short demo on the Ladder Stitch.
A motion was made by Pat Johnson and second by Lyn Reyes to adjourn the meeting at 11:30.
